Community Worker Appreciation Day – November 6!

Join us as we celebrate November 6 – Community Worker Appreciation Day.

Many SEIU-West members work in Community-Based Organizations (CBO) Sector; they work in residential/group home settings and provide services for the vulnerable; assist with mobile crisis services; support people with disabilities to achieve their independent living goals; work with children in day care programs; and engage with clients in addictions counseling/treatment programs.

CBO workers get a sense of satisfaction from helping those in community. They are there for our community members who really need someone. The compassion they show and the pride they have when they watch the people they care for succeed shines through.

We know that the CBOs are an important sector in our province; our members deliver services throughout our communities, and we value their contributions.

This year, our members who work at Variety Place in Outlook were locked out for 11 days. We saw the direct impact this had on the residents and the community. We saw love and support from the community and we saw solidarity grow.

CBO workers are amazing and don’t get enough credit! We are proud of the work they do within our Saskatchewan communities.

To help us celebrate, send your word scramble contest answers to Dennel.Pickering@seiuwest.ca and you will be entered in a draw to win a prize!
